Porta Privacy Policy

Porta is a macOS app for criminal defence lawyers to fetch, organise and locally summarise case documents from the "Mijn Strafdossier" portal. Privacy comes first: the app is built so that your data never leaves your Mac.

No data collection

Porta does not collect, share or transmit any personal data. The developer receives no data whatsoever from the app. There are no accounts, no tracking, no advertising and no analytics in the app.

Local storage

All case documents, analyses and summaries are kept solely on your Mac, locally. They never leave your device.

Network connections

Porta only connects to:

• Mijn Strafdossier (mijnstrafdossiers.rechtspraak.nl) — you log in yourself with your own lawyer's account. Your login details go straight to the portal, not to the developer.
• Hugging Face (huggingface.co) — only when you choose to download a language model yourself. That model then runs entirely locally; no case text goes to Hugging Face or any other service.

AI summaries

Summaries are produced entirely on your device (on-device); no text is sent to an external service. The app is usable without the language model as well — the keyword flagging then simply keeps working, only the summaries are unavailable.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for your own login details and for complying with your duty of confidentiality when storing case documents locally.
