Afstanden privacy policy

Afstanden is a macOS app that shows driving distances and postcodes to district courts, courts of appeal, penitentiary institutions and police stations, calculated from the office address you enter yourself. We take your privacy seriously. This app is designed to work with as little data as possible.

What data does the app process?

• Office address and destinations (postcodes/names): you enter these yourself. They are stored solely locally on your Mac.
• Calculated distances: stored locally on your Mac.

Is data shared with us or with third parties?

• The developer collects no data. There are no accounts, no tracking technologies, no advertising and no analytics.
• Apple Maps (MapKit): to convert addresses into coordinates and calculate driving distances, the app sends the office address and the postcodes to Apple's map services. This processing falls under Apple's privacy policy.
• Location lists: when it starts, the app checks whether newer versions are available of the location lists you have downloaded. For that, and for the download itself, the app makes a standard request to our website. No data about you or your locations is sent with it. As with any website visit, the server hosting our website (GitHub Pages) may technically process your IP address; we do not use or store it.

Storage and retention

All data you enter stays locally on your device (in the Application Support folder and in the app settings). You can delete locations and categories within the app at any time. When you delete the app, this data is removed from your Mac.

Your rights

Because all data stays locally on your device and we collect no data, you have full control: you can view, change and delete data through the app itself.
